Arequipa (click on picture for more)
Most of the trip we were kept on the run but we did get to spend a couple days 'relaxing' in Arequipa. While their we got to visit the Arequipa convent, had an evening out at a very western style restaurant with a beautiful view of the city, stayed in the most unique hotel of the entire trip and visited a very unique coffee shop!

We flew to Arequipa and our first view of the surrounding mountains/volcanos was from the airport. These mountains were where the very famous mummy, Juanita, was discovered.(Click to enlarge)

Our Arequipa hotel was fantastic! It suffered the usual Peruvian water problems (no pressure and unpredictable hot water) but the architecture reminded of and old castle. Nearly everything in Arequipa was constructed of huge, white stone and our hotel was no exception. Note the stone on the inside of our room in the following pictures.(Click to enlarge)
